Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez hails of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. She has two elder brothers, and two younger ones. She was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents had been to the country in the 1980s because of civil unrest within Sri Lanka. When she finished her studies in Bahrain her family was granted an Scholarship to pursue a degree at the University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's master's degree of Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. Having a passion for cultures and languages she also took part in the Berlitz school of languages, in which she was able to learn Spanish as well as improve her French as well as Arabic.
